 book in a window treasure trail 22-25 August 2025

 

The sunny bank holiday weekend was an opportunity to explore the village and enjoy nearly 60 eye-catching Book-in-a-Window displays - a trail organised by Haddenham Library.

The most eye-catching window, judged by the community, was 53 High Street. It was a pleasure to present the prize to Sarah and John Crawford - a £25 Topping Book Token and a set of the latest six, excellent Local History walks maps. Many congratulations.

13 'trailers' submitted correct entries for the book title anagram: 'The House at Pooh Corner'. Rob Lasham and family's correct entry was drawn. Here is Maggie receiving the book token award and a set of Local History walks. Well done.

Many thanks to Roger and Miranda ('Hereward Books’, on the High Street), for your very generous gift for the prizes.

Thank you to all who took part and supported this fun event to spotlight the joy and inspiration of books, reading, creativity and your village Library.

 

           

Book Club

Our friendly Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the Library at 3.30pm. We welcome anyone who enjoys reading and likes
talking about books. We don't do 'lit crit' but we discuss why we like/didn't like the book choice. We exchange tips on recent reads that we think others might enjoy, and then wander on to a wide range of subjects. You don't have to buy the books – we take turns to choose a book from a Cambridgeshire Libraries multi-copy list. Next month's read ‘In a Blink of an Eye’ by Jo Callaghan will be discussed on Tuesday 18th November. All ages and genders are welcome, and anyone born after 1980 would be greatly appreciated for their new perspectives! As always, we can provide a copy of the book, so no need to buy one.
