Book Club

Our friendly Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the Library at 3.30pm. We welcome anyone who enjoys reading and likes
talking about books. We don't do 'lit crit' but we discuss why we like/didn't like the book choice. We exchange tips on recent reads that we think others might enjoy, and then wander on to a wide range of subjects. You don't have to buy the books – we take turns to choose a book from a Cambridgeshire Libraries multi-copy list. If you are interested in joining us, send a request to Sally via info@haddenhamlibrarycambs.co.uk or give your contact details to a Library Volunteer.

Upcoming read:

Next month we're sliding into Black History Month by the seat of our pants to discuss Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche's book Purple Hibiscus on Tuesday 17th November at 3.30pm, in the library.  All welcome, and no need to buy the book as we have enough loan copies for everyone.

To join us, speak to a Library volunteer, or drop a line to info@haddenhamlibrarycambs.co.uk.

**SEPTEMBER BOOK GROUP REPORT**

This month's book was The Other Passenger by Louise Candlish.... it pretty much split the group but the one thing we all agreed on was that it was an easy read, a holiday book and certainly not a book to remember.

The characters weren't likeable or convincing and the writing pedestrian. Even the title felt unsatisfactory and our discussion about why the title was chosen was far more animated than the discussion about the book itself.

One of our members who did enjoy it said this and the last few thrillers we've read have converted her to a thriller reader - as long as they aren't too gory.

The majority of us found the pacing of the book to be a bit strange with a long rather turgid section in the middle but we found the race to the end, with not one but several plot twists, was definitely the best bit.
