So many children! 4 classes in a week!

What better way to celebrate National Storytelling Week?

The library hosted visits on 30th January and 1st February from Robert Arkenstall School. We welcomed Comet and Moon classes on Tuesday, and Sun and Star classes on Thursday. The Key Stage 1 children listened to traditional stories to fit in with their classwork, and made lolly stick puppets. They had a choice of characters from books such as Goldilocks, The Three Little Pigs, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Star class shared stories too, but as it was the first visit for many of them they also had a chance to browse our books. Star class were also introduced to the visit card scheme, and each child issued with their own card.

Every child who visited this week gained a stamp on their School/ Library visit card. This is a joint initiative with Robert Arkenstall School. A stamp is gained for each library visit, either with the school or with their family. After 5 stamps are collected, they take their card into school and receive a certificate. Several children were able to complete either 5 or 10 visits and earn themselves a certificate.

School/Library visit scheme - How it works

Book Club

Our friendly Book Club meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the Library at 3.30pm. We welcome anyone who enjoys reading and likes
talking about books. We don't do 'lit crit' but we discuss why we like/didn't like the book choice. We exchange tips on recent reads that we think others might enjoy, and then wander on to a wide range of subjects. You don't have to buy the books – we take turns to choose a book from a Cambridgeshire Libraries multi-copy list. If you are interested in joining us, send a request to Sally via info@haddenhamlibrarycambs.co.uk or give your contact details to a Library Volunteer.

Upcoming read:

Next month we'll meet on June 16th to discuss the contemporary 2024 romance novel 'You Are Here' by David Nicholls. All welcome, and no need to buy the book as we have enough loan copies for everyone.

To join us, speak to a Library volunteer, or drop a line to info@haddenhamlibrarycambs.co.uk.
